About Nique
Dominique Lamar Greene, known professionally as Nique, is an American rapper, songwriter and producer. Born and raised in the southeast Houston community of Sunnyside (South Acres), Nique fell in love with hip hop at a very early age. Influenced by Tupac, Outkast and Lil Wayne, he started recording music at the tender age of 8 years old, when his older brothers gave him the name, Nique. A standout student-athlete , Nique attended Florida State his freshman year before transferring to Howard University. Though he was an honor student with a 4.0 GPA, Nique dropped out of Howard in 2015 after battling depression and his burning desire to perform. He, then, immediately dropped his first mixtape “6 AM.” Following the sudden and untimely death of his brother Xavier in 2016, Nique released his first EP “Dazed and Confused,” which saw the artist take a darker approach to his music. In the summer of 2017, Nique is signed to OneFammMusic Group/Sony Music and has been covered by The Source, World Star Hip Hop, and Houston Press. Nique’s music style is undoubtedly southern while still being lyrical and introspective. His raspy voice has a southern twang that pairs well with his laid back flow. The content in Nique’s music ranges from his battles with depression, anxiety, and PTSD to drugs, money, and women. Ultimately, the Houston rapper remains true to himself.
